Receiving the LBS scholarship was more than just an investment in my MBA education. It was a symbol of faith by LBS in my future despite my life circumstances. This vote of confidence catalysed what would be a turning point in my life and career. From Clinician to Manager: An MBA Transformation
In 2021, as I worked as a doctor in the emergency room of a busy government hospital, I saw first-hand how good management of men, materials, and money (financial resources) could spell the difference between life and death for patients. I wanted to be one of those good managers, so I set my sights on pursuing a management degree at the Lagos Business School. The MBA programme enabled me to transcend clinical practice and begin problem-solving around human resource management, operations management, and financial planning, all of which have an indirect impact on healthcare outcomes. It turned a clinician into a manager.

Without a doubt, the MBA programme at the Lagos Business School has been a truly life-changing journey for me, one that was only made possible by the CIL Acquico Scholarship. The scholarship granted me access to an exceptional education that has sharpened my problem-solving and leadership skills. It has also granted me access to diverse perspectives from a brilliant crop of classmates and facilitators and helped me understand the intricacies of real-world business challenges. The scholarship took away the financial burden of pursuing an MBA and gave me the chance to focus on my studies. The fact that someone believed in my potential enough to invest in me is a big inspiration to keep going daily, no matter what.

I started my MBA a year ago, and as I reflect on my journey, I realise how challenging it has been. However, I am grateful for the personal growth I’ve experienced and for how well-equipped I am now to handle modern business challenges.
